Our Wheels Are Still Turning
As the world battles the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, whilst Wheels for Hope is facing financial pressure that was inconceivable just a few months ago, we are continuing to provide transport to support WA families with disability.
The COVID-19 pandemic is having a devastating impact on our ability to raise funds. With our major fundraising events cancelled, we face a shortfall in the funding needed to keep our vans on the road. Without vital financial support we face the challenge of being able to maintain our current fleet of 45 vehicles and support the WA families who do not have safe and reliable transport for a family member in a wheelchair.
Our families, like many families in our communities, are battling to cope during this crisis and are being stretched beyond the imaginable. Plus, they were already dealing with the extra pressures of supporting a family member with disability. These families desperately need our support to be able to get to medical and therapy appointments, their children to school, or even to get to the shops to fill the pantry.
We have taken measures to protect our staff, the families we support and our suppliers during this unprecedented time. Our team are working reduced hours, yet are continuing to keep the wheels moving by working from home – and we continue to support our families and ensure our essential service and maintenance that keeps our vans running to the highest standard is being carried out.
Again we thank our amazing supporters – now more than ever. The Car Craft Group, Toyota WA and Toyota Dealers around the state, the MTAWA, Mineral Resources and Telethon, and the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation. Their ongoing support has helped Wheels for Hope to change lives for WA families with mobility for over 10 years – and we want to continue to be there for WA families living with disability.
Wheels for Hope does not receive Government funding, instead relying on fundraising, grants and the benevolence of business and individuals to provide the much-needed support that is delivered by our organisation. Being registered as a Deductible Gift Recipient means all donations over $2 made to Wheels for Hope are Tax Deductible. Should you wish to know how you can help support our program, please call Jodie on 0448 158 946.
On behalf of the families we support we say thank you and welcome any support you can offer in these most unprecedented of times.
