Volunteer Spotlight – Rob Webster

Volunteer Spotlight – Rob Webster

Introducing our feature series on the volunteers who offer their valuable time and support to help Wheels for Hope, we would like to introduce one of our board members, Rob Webster.  Rob is the Director of Premier Avan and has been on the Board of Wheels for Hope since 1990.

We spent 5 minutes with Rob, to dig a little bit deeper into who he is and his relationship with Wheels for Hope.

Tell me how you first got involved in with Wheels for Hope.

I was heavily involved in the Perth “Auto Expo” Moto Shows run jointly between MTA(WA) and Chamber of Automotive Industries (CAIWA) during the 1990’s. Some of the surplus funds from these shows were used to create the “Motor Industry Foundation”, which became “Wheels for Hope”. I am the last remaining Foundation member

What has surprised you most about working with Wheels for Hope?

The talent and camaraderie of my fellow Board members.

What do you find most challenging about Wheels for Hope?

Devoting enough time to participate more fully.

What do you wish other people knew about Wheels for Hope?

How quickly we can support families in need with wheelchair transport.

The interest in Wheels for Hope seems to be growing. What do you think is next for the Program?

Enable like minded people to copy our model interstate.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about (donating, volunteering, supporting Wheels for Hope etc.)?

We provide immediate and tangible support for families in desperate need of some help to look after their disabled child or family member.

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?

I’m a Rotary tragic (since 1983) and just signed on for my 3rd stint as Club President.  Enjoying my 10 acre slice of heaven in the Ferguson Valley. Fishing at Shark Bay.
